Dr David Nestel (ARO) was the FF-IPM organizer and facilitator of the Israeli Stakeholders’ workshop, which took place two months ago at the Plant Protection and Inspection Services of Israel Meeting Room, in Rishon Letzion, Israel.
Israel suffers from a lack of transparency with regard to exotic pest status in neighbouring countries. The different departments and personnel of the Plant Protection and Inspection Services of Israel (PPIS) conduct all activities related to the prevention of exotic pest introduction into Israel. The workshop provided a good ground to present the FF-IPM project and to create specific links with PPIS personnel dealing with biosecurity and quarantine in Israel. The workshop also provided participants with information on the expected contributions of FF-IPM and their implementation in their endeavour.
